Training new members

We offer full introduction training for beginners using a range of different style bows.

During our training we cover

  • safety issues
  • rules of Field Archery
  • Course types
  • Shooting methods

Our training is designed to bring a beginner to full IFAF card standard this is achieved by complying with IFAF’s published 16 point training schedule.

This allows our members to join IFAF and avail of the host of IFAF events which are held through out the year.

17 Points IFAF training schedule

Our approach to training is to give individual sessions outdoors in the Field Archery Course.

We use a 17 point Training Schedule agreed with the sports governing body I.F.A.F this ensures that all beginners get a consistent level of training to an agreed standard.

All 17 points of the schedule are covered over several training sessions and a number of supervised club shoots.

Individuals differ but usually 3 / 4 Training sessions and 2/3 club shoots will bring an individual to a safe standard.

At this time a trainee can apply to join I.F.A.F and proceed to enjoy the sport of Field Archery.

Training charges

A nominal charge of 10 Euro applies to each Training session.

Equipment

All Archery and safety equipment is supplied for each session or club shoot.
We do not recommend that beginners purchase any equipment until they have built up some experience in the sport.

Full equipment advice and measurements are taken before any purchases are recommended this is to ensure that fully matched equipment is purchased for each individual

Club Ethos

We encourage fair play and fun as the key elements of the sport while maintaining the highest level of safety.
